Samsung Galaxy S4 To Include Wireless Charging?

2013 January 22

Rumours about the next instalment of the Samsung Galaxy S range continue to circulate around the internet. With a rumoured release date in Q2 this year, anticipation is really beginning to hot up, but this hardly comes as a surprise given both the commercial success and critical acclaim of the current Galaxy S3 model, and previous handsets in the range.

As is often the case with upcoming smartphones, websites are reporting that the Galaxy S4 will boast everything from a bendy screen to an 8-core processor. While many such features remain questionable, one of the most interesting rumours recently is that the phone will include wireless charging.

An article over at uSwitch reports that a Korean newspaper has suggested that a wireless charging function will be included with the eagerly anticipated device. While this technology is not exactly anything new, it has not really hit the mainstream in a big way. Perhaps the most notable handset with wireless charging which is currently available is the Nokia Lumia 920.

Of course, if the Galaxy S4 was to include wireless charging it would certainly not be the same type used when the technology was first made available a couple of years ago. Advancements in wireless charging now mean that some devices can be charged some two metres away from a charging dock, so offers real convenience rather than just being a gimmick.

Whether or not the Samsung Galaxy S4 will include wireless charging, it looks set to shake up the smartphone market in the same way as the current Galaxy S3 model. This phone continues to be a bestseller in many countries, despite the launch of notable competitors like the iPhone 5 hitting the market since the Galaxy S3 was released back in May 2012.

While rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S4 keep circulating, we will be sure to keep you updated, as well as reporting on the latest developments on other notable Samsung handsets.
