Samsung’s mobile plans for first half of 2013

2013 January 23

Samsung recently slipped and basically told all of us its 2013 mobile roadmap. The company also outlined the handset lineup for the first half of 2013.

TechnoBuffalo managed a sneak peek of Samsung’s up and coming portfolio including the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Pocket Plus, Galaxy Young, Galaxy X Cover 2, and Galaxy Grand.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 announcement is somewhat a bit undercut by the device’s spec sheet that was leaked earlier this month, this was followed by Samsung confirming that the said 8 inch tablet will appear on the late February MWC 2013 in Barcelona.

Samsung’s roadmap confirms earlier leaked specs of 1280 x 800p TFT LCD display, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, 1.6GHz Quad-Core processor, 5MP main camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, S Pen Stylus, and 4600 mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 should arrive in March with either 16GB or 32GB memory in both 3G and Wi-Fi variants.

According to the company’s roadmap, February will see the launch of two of Samsung’s larger devices with the Galaxy X Cover 2 and the Galaxy Grand.

Last year, Samsung released the Galaxy X Cover. Now the Galaxy X Cover 2 comes in with a 4 inch display screen, 1GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.1 with dustproof and waterproof case. It also came in with a 5MP main camera to bring it up to par with other Galaxy devices. It also came in with 4GB worth of memory storage and a microSD card slot.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Grand is with a 5” WVGA display and dual-SIM card slots. It is packed with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and Android 4.1 OS. The device also comes in with an 8MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera, 8GB memory storage and 2,100 mAh battery.

Both of the said devices are slated for a February release, so we may even see them arrive before the MWC 2013.

Sadly, missing from the Korean tech giant’s 2013 first half road map is the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S4.

According to the latest rumours, Samsung will skip the MWC 2013 announcement for its up and coming flagship device, instead the company is favouring its own press conference in March for an April launch.
